Online money making:Tracking your Blog stats

This is a small article that explains how to track Blog/site stats.This is an easy process that contains finding the approproate Blog tracking site and adding HTML code into your Blog.
I recommend you to use "statcounter" free tracking software for your Blog.I really find this software simple and effective.

Step1) First visit statcounter.com

Step 2) Set up an account by filling out all the required credentials.

Step 3) Once you have created an account sign in and select "Add a new project" under "My projects" menu.You will be taken to "Project settings" form

a)Enter your Blog title:In my case "Online money making using Blogs for beginners"
b)Enter your Blog URL (blogspot or newblog whichever Blog hosting service you are using)
c)Choose the relevant category that your Blog should be placed under.
d)Choose your timezone.
e)Max visit length-Leave them on default (30 min)
f)Log size-Leave them on default (500)
g)IP blockiong-Enter your IP so that you do not count your visits)
h)Public stats-should be unchecked(you can keep it checked if you want your visitors to see your Blog stats).

Step 4) Click "Next"

Step 5)If you have done correctly you must see the message "Congratulations!Your project has been created".Now click "Configure and install code"

Step 6)You will be now taken to a page that asks you to choose the "kind of statcounter code you need".I would recommend "Invisible counter".

Step 7) Hit "next".

Step 8) Since you have selected "Invisible counter" directly you would be prompted to "choose Blogging platform".
Note:If you choose visible counter you would have to go through color selection step which you can find it on statcounter.com itself.

Step 9) Choose your Blogging platform blogspot or wordpress (whichever you are using).Leave the two optional sections below unchecked.

Step 10)After clicking "Next" you will get the HTML code which you would have to highlight,copy and then paste it into your Blog.

Step 11) Sign in to your blogger account.Select "Page elements" in "Layout".

Step 12)It is advisable to place the code at the bottom of the Blog for effective results.So Click "Add a gadget" button and select "HTML/javascript" from the list of options.

Step 13)Paste the statcounter HTML code in the "Content" section.IMPORTANT:Do not give a title to this gadget.

Step 14)Hit "save".That's it we are all set to track our Blog stats.

Step 15) Sign in to your statcounter account and you will see your Blog you have set up statcounter on.

Step 16)On the left hand side under "Statistics" navigation select "Recent keyword activity" to see your blog's traffic perfomance.you would also see what keywords your visitors used to get to your Blog.
Some of the keywords that people use to get to my Online money making blog are:"Online money making using blogs,Earn money using blogs,Online money making,Online money making basics for beginners,so on"

Step 17)When you click on the keyword link for your Blog,you would know where you are placed on search engines for that keyword.
